Wendy Hallett was fast tracked through Topshop after joining their graduate training programme in 1985.
She spent 13 years at Arcadia in Store Manager and Area Manager roles which included overseeing Topshop’s Oxford Street flagship store and managing the relationship between Debenhams and the Arcadia brands trading with them as concessions.
While at Arcadia, Wendy saw that there were small brands perfect for Topshop and Arcadia customers but which were too small to attempt any retail format on their own. So, in 1999, she came up with the unique and innovative concept of Fuse Fashion Network – a department store concession that brings together a mix of brands in a cohesive boutique–like setting in host stores, under one operational concession umbrella.
Wendy believes in giving something back and is a founding Muse in the everywoman Modern Muse initiative, which aims to engage the next generation of female business leaders and entrepreneurs by showcasing successful women of today in all walks of business life. She is also a member of the Women in Business Council, a Government initiative to find better opportunities for women to contribute to the economy. Wendy was awarded a MBE in The Queen’s Birthday’s Honours List in June 2013 for services to diversity in the retail sector.
Wendy was Chair of the 2013 Retail Trust London Ball which raised over £1 million for the Retail Trust, the principal charity of the retail industry.
